Actually, this blog title is slightly misleading because if you have a blog, you don’t have to bother at all. You’re already offering your readers an RSS feed without even knowing it!RSS Feed Button | Blogging Tips | Blogging for Beginners | Blog Coaching

Q. How?

A. All the major blog platforms automatically include an RSS feed on your blog and all recent versions of modern web browsers reveal this fact by presenting a little orange and white striped icon. When you arrive to a website that is publishing an RSS feed, Firefox provides the RSS icon on the right side of the address bar. Internet Explorer has the same icon in its toolbar but it’s grayed-out until there’s an available feed, then it turns orange and white.

Q. But what is an RSS feed?

A. RSS stands for: Really Simple Syndication. It is one type of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content

Q. So, what does this mean to my blog readers?

A. Well, it means that both of you are moving from the old Internet (Web 1.0) to the new Internet (Web 2.0). Old-fashioned web surfing is confined to a web browser and a website. New web surfing is like subscribing to a newspaper and having it delivered to your door. An RSS feed allows the reader to get your new post via email, a web based aggregator or another similar central location.

Q. Okay…but what does this mean to me as a blogger?

A #1. You’re offering your readers an easy way to access your blog on a regular basis. They don’t have to remember the address and they don’t have to keep going back to your blog to check on your latest post because your latest post comes to them.

A #2. An RSS feed is the most passive way for you to build an avid audience. That is as long as you deliver fabulous, entertaining and reliable content.

I hope this answers all your questions about RSS feeds and why your blog should have one. If not, please feel free to leave your questions in the comment section and one of our search marketers will get you your answer.
